[9/22/2008] FURY News & Notes

- A day following FURY's 9/21 show, the company held an important press conference from their Osaka offices to announce some major changes, along with a surprising retirement...

Former President Hidehira Kajitani first explained his decision to step down as President of the company, citing that age was a factor for the 67-year old Kajitani, who admitted that much of the office duties have been delegated for the past eight months. However, he credited the man who will succeed him as taking the most responsibility during this time of transition, as he introduced Hiroshi Nishida. Nishida has largely been a hand for his time in the company, beginning as a member of the ring staff in 2003, before ultimately earning management duties in 2005. Mr. Kajitani said that his name was probably not known to fans, but assured everyone that he was qualified to fill the position as President...

The youthful Nishida seemed to surprise the reporters, who couldn't help but whisper comments back and fourth. Nishida said he was honored to succeed Mr. Kajitani, and said that Kajitani had a much larger hand in FURY's growth over the last four years than he would admit... Nishida said that even though he was assuming the title as company president, FURY would continue to be run with input from everybody on the roster.

With that out of the way, Mr. Nishida unfortunately had to make his first announcement as president, revealing that rookie Keichi Ito has chosen to unfortunately retire from professional wrestling after only eight months in the sport. Ito appeared, and cited injuries he had suffered prior to getting into pro-wrestling as the main problem. Ito said that even though he is "retiring," he would work towards returning to the ring in the future, once his body is capable. He thanked the fans, along with the FURY office for their help, and apologized for disappointing anyone...

Nishida then announced that STRONG RIDERS member Norihiro Akashi would be embarking on an indefinite learning excursion beginning immediately. In fact, Mr. Nishida revealed that Akashi was already en route to Europe, where he will spend the next two months studying the European style. After the two months are up, Akashi will then travel to the United States to train at various camps across the US. There's currently no telling when Akashi will return, with Nishida stating that Akashi would only return when he's "ready."

Mr. Nishida quickly moved on to the upcoming "GO NORTH!" tour beginning on 10/02, which will be something of a precursor to FURY's 6th anniversary celebration on 10/25.

The "GO NORTH!" tour will be expanded this year to eight shows this year as oppose to the six shows last year. The tour will focus on the northern areas of Japan. Like last year, there will be special "themed" shows as FURY returns to familiar territories. Including the "6th ANNIVERSARY SENDAI SPECIAL" show, which will mark the return to the site of the original Kazuma Fujita Dojo show that many of FURY's stars debuted on. In addition, FURY will team up with local organizations Pro-Wrestling CRIMSON and Hokkaido Pro-Wrestling for two big shows.

Cards were released for the tour. Aside from the two special shows in Sendai and Iwate, all shows lead to 10/15 in Hokkaido. With Tetsuhisa NAKAI and Yoshihiro Shimoda clashing in a series of tags leading to their big 10/15 F-MAX Unified Heavyweight title match.

NEW FORCE foreign member C. Bones will join the tour mid-way through on 10/08 in Akita. UPRISER'Z member Kyoto Okazaki has spent the last two weeks petitioning to both FURY offices AND the American WCC offices for a shot at Bones' International Heavyweight Crown title. But as of yet, his challenge has not been answered...

The first of the three special shows will take place on 10/05 in Sendai. The match will feature six singles matches, all with a fifteen minute time limit. The main event will see a variation of the main event that headlined the original Kazuma Fujita Dojo show in 2002, as Hiroaki Nakata will clash with Tetsuhisa NAKAI for the first time since 11/24/2004! Other matches include several rematches from the original Sendai show, including Akira Takayoshi vs. TAKU. Last year, TAKU humiliated Akira Takayoshi by "beating" Hiroaki Nakata in a match, who basically parodied the injured Takayoshi. In addition, Masafuji Yoshida will face Kyoto Okazaki in the third and final Different Styles Fight of their rivalry. Last year, Okazaki was quickly DQ'd for fouls, and is promising another unruly result! Go Taniguchi will also face foreign legend James Goodwin in a match Go himself requested! Otsuo Kayusa and Kyoshima Yosuken will also face each other once again, in celebration of the formation of STRONG RIDERS, which spawned after the two faced off in 2002... Finally, Daisuke Iwata will face the foreign veteran Stevie C. in a variation of Iwata's debut match!

The second special show takes place on 10/11 in Iwate, as FURY unites with Pro-Wrestling CRIMSON for its "DREAM COLLABORATION." The show features several unique matches, with the main event seeing the two most unruly teams in Japan locking horns, as F-MAX Tag Team Champions TAKU & Mastodon Fukuda clash with C-1 Tag Team Champions, Akuma Toyota & Goro Iijima in something of a dream match among fans.

Other matches include the F-MAX Heavyweight Champion led team of Tetsuhisa NAKAI, Go Taniguchi, Masafuji Yoshida & Chikao Kessin facing the C-1 Heavyweight Champion team of Seiji Ebisawa, Hiroyuki Takano, Keiji Hirano & Takayuki Ariwa of Mouja. In addition, NEW FORCE will face Yuki Nomura, Nobuyori Shimizu, Kenjiro Amagawa & Mikio Tsuruya of CRIMSON's seikigun. ATSUKA and Millennium S.K. will also continue their rivalry, as CHAOTICS clash with MILLENNIUM STARS. Along with that, Americans will do battle in the second match, as NEW FORCE's C. Bones faces BLACKHEARTS member Jake Bishop! Finally, the show will open with a special ten-man battle royal, featuring six stars from each company.

All eyes are on the 10/15 show in Hokkaido, which will see heavy participation from Hokkaido Pro-Wrestling. The main event will feature a huge main event, as Tetsuhisa NAKAI makes his first defense of his new F-MAX Unified Heavyweight title against FURY's own "HOKKAIDO SUPERNOVA" Yoshihiro Shimoda. Shimoda, despite being a Jr. Heavyweight has long been a threat to any champion in FURY, and has shown in winning the F-MAX Tag Team titles on two occasions, that he can stand up against any heavyweight in FURY. But never the less, it'll be an incredible challenge for Shimoda.

An explosive semi main event was added as well, as for the first time since 11/20/2002, Hiroaki Nakata will face Hokkaido pillar Jin Hiroto in a singles match! During the inception of FURY, Nakata and Hiroto were in warring factions as the FURY seikigun feuded with VioMAX. Years later, Hiroto has matured in both age and skill, and like Shimoda, he has proved to be a true openweight fighter. Whether or not the two still hold hostile feelings for one another, the match should prove to be a physically intense battle!

In another themed match, Chikao Kessin, Jet Jaguar and Kazuki Sendo will face members of the Hokkaido heel "Osaka City Heidan," Akitoshi Mikami, DOKUGA and Yasushi Ito. The match sees the return of Mikami and DOKUGA to the FURY ring, as Mikami was a member of the FURY roster on two occasions between 12/02-2/03 and 10/04-5/06, while DOKUGA wrestled as Onyx as a member of the unit he took his new name from, "Dokuga." Along with that, Etsuya Kawachi and Hidaka Kamon of NEW FORCE will clash with the popular duo of KAZUKI and Taku Shizuma, which will prove to be an exciting tag match.

The show will open with what is being called a "CATALCLYSMIC COMEDY BATTLE" as Kinniku Kamen Nisei faces Hokkaido's Joshyn The Mighty, and a mystery X wrestler... In completely unrelated news, Go Taniguchi unfortunately announced that he would have to miss the show due to attending the annual "Checkers & Board Games Expo" in Waterloo, Iowa...
