Today, from the Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium , Pro-Wrestling FURY held a press conference to officially reveal the complete lineups for the 2008 F-MAX Summit tournament.
Given this year's special format of a thirty-two man single-elimination tournament, FURY President Hiroshi Nishida revealed that match pairings would be determined by a random lottery tumbler. The random drawing went on without incident, with all sixteen first round matches being decided.
The random draw created some unique match-ups, which include Akira Takayoshi facing his fellow NEW FORCE member, Etsuya Kawachi. In addition, senpai and kouhai will square off, as Masafuji Yoshida will face Tetsujin. However, one of the most interesting matches pit the F-MAX Unified Heavyweight Champion Tetsuhisa NAKAI against the new F-MAX Jr. Heavyweight Champion, Shin Kaiju! This will mark only the second time in FURY history that the Heavyweight and Jr. Heavyweight Champion have met in a singles match...
Just as the press conference was wrapping up, commotion would break out as RYO INOUE barged into the room. Inoue immediately grabbed President Nishida by his tie, and DEMANDED to be paired against Kazuma Fujita in the first round. With a crack in his voice, Mr. Nishida told Inoue that the pairings had been determined by random draw. Inoue responded by kicking the tumbler off the table, sending ping pong balls scattering all across the floor... Inoue again demanded to face Fujita, with Mr. Nishida once again saying he had no control over the lottery.
Inoue released Nishida, and studied the lineups before coming across his match, as he read that his first round opponent would be STRONG RIDERS member Kenichiro Hujikawa. Inoue scoffed, and said this was unacceptable. He accused Mr. Nishida of "bending to Fujita's will," and claimed that the lottery was rigged by Fujita himself to avoid facing him! Inoue finally laughed, and said that he hadn't come to FURY's ring to "win a pointless tournament." He said his goal was first and foremost to lure Kazuma Fujita into the ring. However, he said he would settle for simply "sending a message" for now, and said that eventually, Fujita would have to face him...
