[Results] "NEW YEAR SMASH!! ~ Part.1," 1/01/2009 @ Korakuen Hall

- Pro-Wrestling FURY officially kicked off the new year in style before a full house in Korakuen Hall, beginning what will now be a yearly tradition. President Hiroshi Nishida greeted the crowd warmly, and reiterated the company's 2009 policy of “Glocal Expansion.” In addition, Mr. Nishida also announced that FURY would create more of an “open-door” policy, and will welcome wrestlers from other organizations, and even freelance wrestlers in the case of the man Mr. Nishida introduced, in Nansei Nihon Pro-Wrestling exile, Ryuugo Nagashima. While Nagashima will not be given a formal FURY contract, Mr. Nishida declared that Nagashima would work full-time with the company. Nagashima introduced himself formally, earning a polite reaction. He thanked Mr. Nishida for the opportunity, and promised to give his best.

- The first match of the night saw UPRISER'Z members RYUJI and Manabe Tsuji facing Masafuji Yoshida and Tetsujin. Tetsujin suffered the wrath of UPRISER'Z's bullying, with Yoshida having to bail him out several times. Finally, Tsuji finished Tetsujin with his brand-new Guts Coaster attack. After the match, Tsuji and RYUJI teased Tetsujin about his increasing weight, saying that all of that fat only made him “weaker.” Tetsujin however earned much admiration from the fans by saying he would show the strength of “deibu” (fat) people across the world.

- STRONG RIDERS clashed with UPRISER'Z in the third match. However, what began as a routine six-man tag quickly turned into a surprise event. UPRISER'Z ran wild just four minutes in, with TAKU, Fukuda, and Iwata assaulting the three members of STRONG RIDERS, along with even referee Akinori Fuwa! However, their onslaught didn't last long, as a figure sprinted in to make the save for STRONG RIDERS. While many fans expected the returning Norihiro Akashi, they were stunned to instead see Kazuma Fujita Dojo 6th Term Graduate and DYNAMITE star JUN KOBAYASHI! Kobayashi said that he attended tonights event to announce his intention to enter the FURY mat for the first time. However, he said his sense of morality and justice wouldn't allow him to watch such flagrant disrespect.

Kobayashi had a brief confrontation with President Nishida, who welcomed Kobayashi into the FURY ring for the first time. This happy moment was quickly ruined by Mastodon Fukuda, who actually was apart of the same class Kobayashi graduated from, and reminded Kobayashi so by referring to him as “Koba-kun.” Fukuda laughed at where Kobayashi's life had led him, noting how long it took him to get anywhere in Pro-Wrestling DYNAMITE, and insinuated that his rise as “ace” led to the company's downfall, and said he wouldn't allow Kobayashi to “ruin” another company. President Nishida promptly ignored Fukuda's words, and said he hoped to see him in the FURY ring as soon as possible... However, Kenichiro Hujikawa stepped forward, and said that to repay the favor tonight, he would remove himself from tomorrow's show, and allow Kobayashi to step in! However, in return, Hujikawa asked Kobayashi to FACE HIM on the 1/23 BREAK BLOW show from Shinjuku FACE! Jun accepted without hesitation, and shook hands with Hujikawa.

- NEW FORCE clashed with a strong trio of mushozoku members in the fourth match in F-MAX Unified Heavyweight Champion Tetsuhisa NAKAI, Hiroaki Nakata, and Go Taniguchi. The match was kept short, with everyone making frequent tags. In the end, Naoyuki Watanabe caught Taniguchi by surprise with a Small Package hold for the win. After the match, Akira Takayoshi offered praise to NAKAI in his 12/21 efforts against Ryo Inoue, calling it a match that fans will remember for years. NAKAI thanked Akira for the words, but said that his feelings were still mixed.

- In the semi final, the Jr. Heavyweights were given the chance to shine in a thrilling six-man tag between NEW FORCE and the trio of Yoshihiro Shimoda, Jet Jaguar and Kinniku Kamen Nisei. In the end, Kinniku Kamen Nisei and Kazuki Sendo were given the opportunity to show Korakuen what they had with a thrilling exchange of attacks, climaxing with Nisei catching Sendo with the Kinniku Flash for the three count. Kawachi and Kamon both exchanged friendly words with the PWC Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team champions. A match was preliminary determined for later in the month, or possibly even in early February. Kawachi said that in the mean time, he would prepare Sendo's upcoming trial series.

- Fifteen heavyweights clashed in the main event for a prize of 500,000 yen. The Korakuen fans highly enjoyed the attraction, as FURY has only done the battle royal concept sparingly. There were several surprises in the match, including Hiroaki Nakata, who was the first person eliminated after Naoyuki Watanabe caught him with a schoolboy, while Go Taniguchi and Masafuji Yoshida piled on top... In addition, Watanabe himself would be eliminated by fellow NEW FORCE member Akira Takayoshi, who after narrowly saving Watanabe from being thrown over the top rope, turned around and threw him over the ropes himself... Akira was paid back quickly however, as he was pulled out of the ring by Watanabe after foolishly offering a handshake... In the end, the match came down to Tetsuhisa NAKAI, Daisuke Iwata and YAKUTA. Opposing the F-MAX Champion, Iwata and YAKUTA formed a strange alliance, and focused their attacks. However, the two quickly had a miscommunication, bringing an a halt to their tandem. However, this as well turned out to be a ruse, as YAKUTA caught NAKAI with a kenka kick instead of Iwata, sending him tumbling over the top rope, leaving just Iwata and YAKUTA! The unlikely alliance dissolved for good here, with both men laying into one another. In the end, after a rapid exchange of counters, YAKUTA managed to hoist Iwata up and SPIKE him with the Ace Driver, keeping the venomous serpent down for the three!

The Korakuen fans ROARED for YAKUTA's hard-fought victory. YAKUTA was quickly joined by his fellow CHAOTICS members, with ATSUKA looking even more overjoyed than YAKUTA, who seemed to be downplaying it... As YAKUTA was being awarded his prize, it was quickly SNATCHED away by ATSUKA, who announced that as YAKUTA's “management” (which YAKUTA himself had no idea of...), he was taking 95% of the winnings for himself. Shirai spoke up, and asked if ATSUKA would spare some of the winnings to buy him an authentic Watermelon from Okinawa to fight homesickness... ATSUKA, in a rare moment of compassion, gleefully agreed, and proceeded to give him the remaining 5%... YAKUTA finally put an end to the silliness, and slapped ATSUKA across the head before taking back the money...
