- For the first time since his historic match against Ryo Inoue on 5/31, Kazuma Fujita appeared in front of reporters from the FURY Dojo in Osaka. Fujita appeared to be in great spirits despite the enduring battle. He told the reporters that even in defeat, he had no regrets about the match, and said that Inoue was simply better that day. However, he said he was proud to see Otsuo Kayusa rise up and do what he could not on 6/12.
However, Fujita had other topics to discuss today. The first being his return, currently scheduled for day one of the J1-MAX League on 7/05. The match will be particularly exciting, as Fujita will team with the new F-MAX Unified Heavyweight Champion Otsuo Kayusa, as the two superpowers will face off against the F-MAX Tag Team Champions, Akira Takayoshi and Naoyuki Watanabe in a non-title match! Fujita said he could hardly contain himself at the thought of such an exciting match, and said that he was eager to redeem himself after 5/31.
However, Fujita's return surprisingly was not the reason for this press conference today, as Fujita wanted to introduce the newest graduate of the FURY dojo. He prefaced it by addressing the rumors regarding the signing of amateur wrestling ace Mamoru Sekishima. He said while both sides have wanted to keep it a secret until now, he could finally announce that they were true. He brought out Mamoru Sekishima himself, who stood at an astonishing 198cm (6'6"). The beefy Sekishima introduced himself at the reporters, who seemed to be in awe of his stature. Fujita quickly read off all of Sekishima's accomplishments, including three national titles in high school, along with winning the All Asian Greco-Roman championship in college.
Mamoru spoke about his ambitions growing up. He noted that he had been a life long fan of pro-wrestling dating back to th elate 1980's, and noted some of his earliest memories are of watching wrestling on NTV with his father. He noted that when he got older, he became infatuated with Kazuma Fujita, and has followed his career as a fan ever since, and noted that he has even attended every match Fujita has had in Osaka since Burning Spirit Pro-Wrestling. He decided in high school that he would be a pro-wrestler, and even noted that he constantly sent Fujita letters requesting to be trained. He said he was stunned when Fujita actually responded to one of his letters, in which he told Mamoru to continue with his education and pursue his dream after college. Mamoru said he was touched by Fujita's words, and set his sights on becoming a pro-wrestler when he enrolled at Keio University in Tokyo. He even noted that as his success in the amateur ranks continued, he received incredible offers from various kakutougi and kickboxing organizations to drop out of a school and fight for them, but said he turned all offers down without a second thought, because they would not bring him closer to his dream.
Fujita said that after receiving Mamoru's letters, he took an active interest in his progress in college, and regularly attended his matches in Tokyo, and has since taken Mamoru under his wing.
When Mamoru finished school in September of last year, he enrolled in the FURY dojo the same day, and began his training the day after. Fujita stated he was amazed by Sekishima's progress even with his background, and noted that he was physically stronger than any student to ever come into the FURY dojo. After nine months of training, Fujita feels that Mamoru is ready to make his debut, which will take place on 7/06 in Sekishima's home prefecture of Hyogo. Sekishima will debut against the man he idolized growing up, Kazuma Fujita! Mamoru noted his surprise when he learned this, and said that he was honored. Fujita slapped Mamoru on the shoulder, and told him to hold nothing back, and leave a lasting impression on the Hyogo fans.
