- The group stage of the 2009 F-MAX Summit tournament came to a close tonight in the first leg of an Osaka double-header inside of the Namihaya Dome. The show kicked off with a fast-paced junior match pitting the “DREAM HEROES,” Jet Jaguar and Nansei Nihon's GALLEON against “The Betrayer,” F-MAX Jr. Heavyweight Champion Yoshihiro Shimoda and ATSUKA. The Osaka fans seemed taken back by Shimoda's new heel personality. Jaguar and GALLEON struggled early on, having to combat the rough-neck style of their opponents. GALLEON however managed to catch ATSUKA with his G-Crusher for the pin shortly after the 10:00 mark. After the match, Jaguar finally spoke out against Shimoda, telling him that he had turned his back on every fan that supported him over the last eight years. Shimoda interrupted, telling Jaguar not to misunderstand him. Shimoda said that his actions had nothing to do with the fans, as he would do anything possible to keep the new generation of FURY juniors from surpassing his generation. He promised to dispel Jaguar for good tomorrow in their F-MAX Jr. Heavyweight title match.

- After intermission, Kotaro Ota was set to make his second defense of Nansei Nihon's All Pacific Jr. Heavyweight title against Nansei's own Wataru Yamada. The two had a competitive match with both men trading control through out. Yamada had many fans in the building due to the close proximity to Hyogo, which gave him the support to score some big near falls. In the end however, Ota was able to suppress Yamada's Burning Spirit after connecting with the Nuevo Spark. After the match, Ota praised Yamada's efforts, but said he wanted an even bigger challenge from Nansei, leading to him calling out Nansei's Ace, GALLEON! “The Lion of Hyogo” answered Ota's challenge, saying that as the face of Nansei, it was his responsibility to protect was is theirs He noted that he admired Ota as a competitor, and had no ill feelings towards him. However, GALLEON said that he would accept Ota's challenge, and bring the All Pacific Jr. Heavyweight title back to Nansei. Ota was pleased with this, saying that he wanted this match to be held on GALLEON's home turf of Hyogo, leading to the match being made for “FURY WORLD 2009” at Kobe World Hall on 12/21!

- After intermission, we had the remaining four group stage matches that would ultimately determine who would advance to the semi finals tomorrow. First we had Chikao Kessin facing Keiji Takano. While advancing was an impossibility to Kessin, a loss for Takano would complicate his campaign to reach the semi finals. Takano however would ensure his chances by beating Kessin after trapping Kessin in the Takano Lock B. Kessin tried his best to fight, but with no where to go, he was forced to submit, securing his 1st place slot in the A Block...

His semi finals opponent would be determined in the next match, as Naoki Fukuda managed to put away Masato Osagawa in a fiercely competitive match. It would take Fukuda using two of his trademark Mastodon Splashes to finally extinguish Osagawa's Burning Spirit...

Akira Takayoshi met Norihiro Akashi in a match that would result in the winner advancing to the semi finals as the runner up in the A Block in what would be the match of the night. Akashi struggled early on, failing to keep up with the experience, agility, and strength of Akira. Halfway through the match however, Akashi began fighting back with incensed ferocity. Everything he was able to counter Akira, he made every shot count, slowly chipping away at Akira blow-by-blow. The closing moments had the 3,000 fans in hysterics. Akira nearly secured the victory after a flurry of lariats, before connecting with a high-bridge Tiger Suplex hold. Akashi however came back with fierce lariats of his own, before ultimately scoring a 2.8 count using a German Suplex hold, before rolling that into the Akashi Trap for a 2.9 count. Akashi aimed to finish the match with his Moonsault press, only for Akira to roll out of the way. From there, Akira unleashed a plethora of enzuigiris. After the third one however, something awake within Akashi, who BLASTED Akira with a piercing kesagiri chop, before following up with a bone-shattering rolling lariat, leading to another 2.9 count. With almost nothing left, Akashi was able to hoist Akira's body into the air, before IMPLANTING HIM with the Ignition Crash, driving every ounce of air out of Akira's body! Akashi followed with the cover, earning the shocking three count!

In the main event, familiar rivals Hiroaki Nakata and Tetsuhisa NAKAI faced off in their first singles match in over a year. Due to the shorter match length, the match suffered when it came to structure. As usual, Nakata stuck to technique and precision, while NAKAI used brute force to break Nakata's will. The closing moments saw Nakata unleashing hard kicks and strikes, leading to him finally connecting with the Zanzai Blow. NAKAI however powered out of Nakata's pin attempt at one, leading to him eventually connecting with a flurry of machine-gun chops, and later a half nelson suplex. NAKAI finally was able to spike Nakata with the MAX BULLET, only for Nakata to immediately pop up to his feet in a daze. This allowed NAKAI to come off the ropes, and finish Nakata with his trademark lariat, leading to the three count to secure his slot in the semi finals of the F-MAX Summit tournament!

After the main event, the remaining three semi finalists were called to the ring, bringing out Norihiro Akashi, Naoki Fukuda, and Keiji Takano. As if fate had ordained it, NAKAI will face off against the man who he has had problems with for over four months, Norihiro Akashi, while Keiji Takano will face Naoki Fukuda in the other semi finals bout. The two winners will meet up later in the night to ultimately crown the 2009 F-MAX Summit champion!
