- Nearly one year ago in front of 45,000 fans in the Kyocera Dome, Hiroaki Nakata and Pro-Wrestling DYNAMITE's Tatsumichi Akamatsu faced off in one of the fiercest bouts in the history of Pro-Wrestling FURY. In the end, Nakata would defeat Akamatsu, and in doing so, lifted the WWA National Heavyweight title in the process, beginning what would be a year+ reign as champion. Now, one year later, the two will face off in one of the most anticipated rematch in Pro-Wrestling FURY history.
The two appeared before reporters from FURY's home offices in Osaka. Akamatsu, accompanied by fellow Pro-Wrestling DYNAMITE members Makoto Tachibana and Yujiro Higuchi, said that he had wanted this match the moment he lost to Nakata last year. He praised Nakata's skill and determination, but said that for a time, he lost confidence in himself after the loss, but said fate has given him a chance to redeem himself. He noted the recent generation uprising in DYNAMITE, citing Riki Ichiro being the man to dethrone Nakata as WWA National Heavyweight Champion.
Nakata called Akamatsu his “perfect rival,” nothing that they were the evenly matched going into their match last year. Nakata said that he owed Akamatsu for what was something of a career revival for Nakata, who hadn't been making much progress up the ranks, by his own admission. Because of this, Nakata said he accepted the match without hesitation.
Both sides will face off in two special preliminary bouts on 5/16 in Korakuen and 5/31 in Osaka for “BREAK BLOW Vol. 11.” First on 5/16. Nakata, along with Masato Osagawa and Mamoru Sekishima will face Akamatsu, Makoto Tachibana and Yujiro Higuchi, while the 5/21 BREAK BLOW card will be headlined by a big tag match, pitting Nakata and Shuji Kido against Akamatsu and Makoto Tachibana!
Speaking of 5/21, Nakata revealed the full card for “BREAK BLOW Vol. 11,” which will advance upon Osaka for the very first time. In addition to the main event, the REAL-ONE trio of Jun Kobayashi, Kenichiro Hujikawa and Shigeru Iwasaki will face KYOURUI 6's Mikio Tsuruya, Ryoma Inoue, and Akahito Yamada. Former dojo comrades, Iwasaki and Yamada have been at odds with one another over the last couple of months. Now, both sides have called upon their allies to aid them! As something of a follow up to Goro Iijima and Niwatori Ogawa's 5/02 invasion, Manabe Tsuji will now face Iijima one-on-one. Elsewhere, the Second Generation Jr. Army of F-MAX Jr. Heavyweight Champion Jet Jaguar, Kotaro Ota and Fumihiko Shirai will face the combined forces of Nobusan, along with HOT LIMIT's Keisuke Rongai and Wataru Yamada! The match will serve as a preliminary skirmish for two 5/31 matches, as Jaguar and Nobusan prepare for their Mascara contra Mascara bout, while The OKINAWA SPEED STARS face off against HOT LIMIT in the semi finals of the F-MAX Jr. Tag title tournament! The event will be kicked off by a match between two men pushing 200cm, FURY's Mamoru Sekishima and DYNAMITE's Yujiro Higuchi.
Nakata/Akamatsu II marks the tenth confirmed bout for the 5/31 spectacular. President Hayakawa confirmed that the final card would have between 12-14 matches all together.
