10/25 Press Conference, Fujita sells shares, wrestlers return, KOF GP 2011

-- From Pro-Wrestling FURY's Osaka headquarters, the company hosted its promised press conference in front of a large gathering of media. Present were FURY patriarch, and interim company President Kazuma Fujita, Naoki Fukuda, TAKU, and Go Taniguchi. The press conference got off to a huge start, as Kazuma Fujita announced that he had sold his shares in Pro-Wrestling FURY to the wrestlers themselves, making them primary owners of the company. Fujita again dropped a bombshell, stated that an arrangement had been made to bring back many of the wrestlers who had quit earlier in the year, which cued the arrival of Hiroaki Nakata, Akira Takayoshi, Tetsuhisa NAKAI, and the other wrestlers who resigned earlier in the year. Fujita shook hands with Nakata in front of the reporters, allowing the cameras to snag a photo opportunity. Fujita finally said that he was satisfied with this resolution, and said that FURY was his baby, but now he is ready to let go. Breaking from his professional tone, Fujita shouted, “FUKUDA! ...NAKATA! Don't let me down!” before exiting the room. All of the wrestlers showed their respect by bowing, sans NAKAI, who stood with no expression.

Hiroaki Nakata took the opportunity to speak, thanking Fujita for being their teacher for all of these years... Shifting abruptly to the topic of their resignation, Nakata apologized to the fans, the media, and most importantly, the wrestlers. Nakata, along with the other wrestlers who left knelt before Fukuda, TAKU, and Go. The three didn't appear to know how to respond... Go finally stepped forward, bringing Nakata back up to his feet and seemingly accepting their apology...

Go continued to speak for the remainder of the press conference, serving as the defacto host. Go pulled out a thick-framed eyeglasses along with prepared notes, making for a somewhat amusing scene as Go did his best to seem “professional.” “Mr. Taniguchi” officially announced that Pro-Wrestling FURY would return to activity on November 11, 2011 in Osaka to begin the 2011 KING OF FURY Grand Prix!

Deviating from last year's single-elimination tournament, this years tournament will be a two-block round robin tournament, with TEN MEN making up each block. Two large posters were presented to the reporters, revealing the participants. All of FURY's top heavyweight ranks will be represented, along with a few surprise entrants, such as the inclusion of Jr. Heavyweights Jet Jaguar (A Block) and both Yoshihiro Shimoda and ATSUKA (B Block).

As part of a new working agreement with American group DEFIANCE Wrestling, the company will send 193cm Adam Waterman to participate in the tournament. A prepared statement was read from DEFIANCE Head Eric Dane, who said that the bonds between both company's were stronger than ever, and said that he wanted to see FURY wrestlers test their mettle in DEFIANCE's ring in 2012. A statement from Waterman himself was also read, which essentially came off as a job resume of all of Waterman's impressive athletic accomplishments. Waterman finished the statement promising to make a huge impact on FURY's ring.

The impression left with reporters towards the end was that the company was still very much under a restructuring phase... However, a deep impression was made that the company would survive the year due to new investors, comprised of a group of businessmen who were the primary backers of the short lived off-shoot FFF Project and SGL Pro-Wrestling groups brought in by the likes of Nakata, NAKAI, and Takayoshi. However, the exact management structure of the group has yet to be determined, with the primary focus right now being the KING OF FURY Grand Prix tournament.
