"DREAM + INFINITY IV" Press Conference

- From the Hilton Hotel in Osaka, Pro-Wrestling FURY held a large press conference to formally address their upcoming 5/31 super show from the Kyocera Dome in Osaka.

A sea of reporters crowded the banquet hall as a good majority of the Pro-Wrestling FURY roster stood in unison on a stage. Above them hung a large banner, advertising the 5/31 show. Finally, at 8:00PM JST, FURY President Hiroshi Nishida finally appeared, garnering a respectful round of applause from the reporters.

The following transcript was provided by Yahoo! Sports Japan.

Hiroshi Nishida: "Hello everyone... I am Hiroshi Nishida, President of Pro-Wrestling FURY. Thank you for attending tonight's press conference. Combined with tonight's successful event from the Katano Dome, this is an important night for our company. As always, we would like to express our sincere thanks to our friends, our fans, and our family within the pro-wrestling industry: namely those within BATTLE FUSION. Together, we have all done our part to rebuild our community... As you all know, the primary object of today's event is to outline our advancement upon the Kyocera Dome, which in prior years has been simply known as the "Osaka Dome." It is strange, because for many years, the Tokyo Dome was the highest stage pro-wrestling in Japan to ascend... However, during the collapse of the industry towards the end of the last century, and the rise of Osaka-based Pro-Wrestling with Burning Spirit Pro-Wrestling, and of course, Pro-Wrestling FURY, the Osaka Dome has replaced the Tokyo Dome as this mythical stage. Nearly eight years since the creation of Burning Spirit Pro-Wrestling, it is with heavy hearts that we express our excitement to finally bring Professional Wrestling to the Kyocera Dome...

This event has been several years in the making... However, the time and climate for such a monumental event has never felt right. I distinctively remember a conversation I had with Kazuma Fujita three years ago, while I worked under Mr. Kajitani (the former President of FURY,) when he said 'there is not a singular company strong enough to support an event of this magnitude. For one company to carry such a project on their back, surely they would collapse under the weight.' At the time, I did not understand what Fujita meant... However, looking back at the large events planned by company's such as Burning Spirit Pro-Wrestling, Real Japan, and Pro-Wrestling ZION; all of which collapsed before their plans could be carried out... I realize what he meant. Which is why we have extended our hand out to all of the group's within BATTLE FUSION. To our delight, several of them have accepted our requests, and will be dispatching offer matches to bolster what we hope will be the biggest event in the history of Japanese Pro-Wrestling... While exact matches have not been made, we have been reassured that all parties involved will be providing 'streamline' bouts befitting a card of this stature. We sincerely thank them for their cooperation... At this time, I would like to reveal the company's that will be providing offer matches."

Hiroshi Nishida: "Regarding specific matches provided by these companies... We will allow them to reveal them at their convenience. Please look forward towards these announcements, just as we do... The inclusion of our BATTLE FUSION family members symbolizes the first theme of our event: Unity. As I said, I believe an event of this size cannot be supported by one company. At the same time, it is my wish to not only expand FURY's name, but to expand the name of BATTLE FUSION, the groups within BATTLE FUSION, and the Pro-Wrestling industry as a whole. It is my dream to showcase Professional Wrestling as the strongest form of entertainment in Japan, just as it was in the 70's and 80's. I want the world to know that the highest form of Professional Wrestling is found in BATTLE FUSION...

Now, I will reveal the second theme of our event... Most fans know what '5.31' means to us. It's not just the day we run our 'DREAM + INFINITY' event. It is the anniversary of the company that single-handedly revived our sport when it was on the brink of death: Burning Spirit Pro-Wrestling. It was where many of our most revered figures made their name, including Kazuma Fujita, Keiji Takano, Mitsuharu Nogami, and along with foreigners such as James Goodwin and, Jason Roswell, and Jason Ramsey. When Burning Spirit Pro-Wrestling finally collapsed, the baton was passed to Pro-Wrestling FURY to carry the Pro-Wrestling industry for several years. Thankfully, due to the growth of BATTLE FUSION, FURY is no longer alone in supporting Pro-Wrestling... Four years after the last show Burning Spirit Pro-Wrestling ran, we believe it is now time to pay tribute to the company we owe so much to.

Therefore, the second theme of our event will be to honor Burning Spirit Pro-Wrestling. We have outlined three points. The first point is that we will be holding an "Alumni Battle Royal," featuring many of the characters the history of Burning Spirit Pro-Wrestling. We have spent the last four months contacting several alumni, and believe fans will enjoy seeing some of their favorite characters in the pro-wrestling ring once again.

Our second point is to honor the man responsible for Burning Spirit Pro-Wrestling, as we have invited the founder of the company Koji Tanaka to attend the event as a guest of honor. We are happy to announce that Mr. Tanaka has accepted our invitation. In addition to attending the event, he will also be speaking to the fans for the first time since the company's closure in 2005. We hope the fans look forward to this.

Finally, to complete this theme, we have assembled a six of the most popular figures from Burning Spirit Pro-Wrestling's history to compete in a six-man tag team tribute in a match titled, "5.31 Memorial ~ REMEMBER THE BURNING!" Keiji Takano, "Tokyo Ace" Mitsuharu Nogami, and a man FURY fans are well familiar with, Ryo Kitase will face James Goodwin, "The Superstar" Jason Ramsey, and "The Egotist" Jason Roswell. We hope these six men will once again evoke the emotions and feelings fans had watching them years ago in Burning Spirit Pro-Wrestling.

Now, we will outline the matches we can officially announce, including our main event... As fans saw tonight at our Katano Dome event, Kazuma Fujita has agreed to face Ryo Inoue on 5/31. Naturally, being that this is possibly the biggest dream match in our country, these two men will headline our event. After speaking to both men following our event tonight, the F-MAX Unified Heavyweight title will be at stake. Right now, I would like to introduce both Fujita and Inoue."

From there, Kazuma Fujita, on the left, and Ryo Inoue, on the right, appeared before taking a seat at the long table positioned on the stage.

Hiroshi Nishida: "We will begin with the F-MAX Unified Heavyweight Champion, Ryo Inoue. After his initial statement, we will allow Kazuma Fujita to speak. Afterwards, we will take your questions."

Ryo Inoue: "I am Ryo Inoue... This company credits me as being the F-MAX Unified Heavyweight Champion... However, this is not a title I accept. I carry it out of obligation, but it means nothing to me until I beat Kazuma Fujita. When that is done, I will finally wear that belt proudly... Tonight, I told Fujita I respected him as a fighter, and I mean that. For several years, I've listened to everyone say how great Fujita was. While I, perhaps ignorantly, discounted this... After watching him, I became obsessed with him. After all, to become the strongest, you have to beat people perceived to be stronger than you. While I don't know if he's better than me, I know the road towards attaining 'pure fighting grace' goes through Fujita. And on 5/31, either I will expose Fujita's strength as nothing more than a fable, or Fujita will have his 'happy end' in front of his Osaka fans."

Hiroshi Nishida: "Mr. Fujita?"

Kazuma Fujita: "I am Kazuma Fujita... I am still reeling from my return tonight, so it feels as if this is all happening quickly. However, I realize the situation I am in. On 5/31, I will have the toughest fight of my life against the 'mythical' Ryo Inoue. Having followed him through out his career, I can safely say that among the men I have faced in the ring, including Keiji Takano, James Goodwin, Karlson Goold, and Jason Ramsey... Inoue may be the strongest. While my silence regarding Inoue may be perceived as cowardice, deep down, I've always known we were destined to meet. However, I wanted to meet Inoue when I was strong both in mind and body. Mentally, I am stronger than ever. However, I cannot ignore the injuries I've accumulated... Never the less, I can no longer postpone our match. It would not be fair to Inoue, nor the fans. Regardless of the physical condition of my shoulder, I will give no less than 300%! I promise a match that will forever change the scope of our sport! Whether this is the last match of my career, or the start of another renaissance for me, I will bare my soul in Kyocera! Remember that!"

Hiroshi Nishida: "Right now, we will now field questions from you all."

Fujio Nomura, Yahoo! Sports Japan: "Inoue-san, you have faced some of FURY's strongest wrestlers, including Tetsuhisa NAKAI, Akira Takayoshi and Chikao Kessin... What are your honest thoughts regarding the field of talent in FURY?"

Ryo Inoue: "I cannot deny NAKAI's strength, though I don't believe he beat me in our first match. Takayoshi and Kessin however did not impress me."

Fujio Nomura: "Have you gained any insight in regards to Fujita by facing them?"

Ryo Inoue: "Fujita has taught them good core values. Physically, they are strong. However, they have never fought a fighter with the physical and mental skills that I possess. That is where they fail. However, a 'fighter's intellect' is not something one can each to somebody. It's attained only by mental focus. I believe Fujita has this. They do not."

Atsumori Kaga, Nippon Fight: "Many, including Mr. Nishida has called this the biggest match in the history of Japanese Pro-Wrestling. Do you both believe this?"

Kazuma Fujita: "I don't like to say things like that. For me, this is another big match among many I have had in my career. I cannot approach this any different than I would against Jason Ramsey, or Mitsuharu Nogami, or James Goodwin. So I have no thoughts on it one way or another."

Ryo Inoue: "I admire Fujita's humility, but I recognize the magnitude of a match like this. When I disappeared from the sport after the collapse of the JPA, I received hundreds of letters from fans during the rise of Kazuma Fujita and Burning Spirit Pro-Wrestling. 'Inoue! When are you going to expose this fraud!?' This thought was echoed in many of these messages. While I don't think Fujita is a fraud, I recognize the intrigue a match like this presents. And I will even admit that this may be the biggest match of my career. I'd even put Fujita above that cowardly dog, Genji Yamato."

Hiroshi Nishida: "We will take one more question regarding this match, and then we will move on."

Rumiko Ryusaki, Tokyo Sports: "This goes out to both participants. What will happen if you are to lose?"

Ryo Inoue: "I do not ever contemplate defeat. I will not bother answering such a ridiculous question."

Kazuma Fujita: "The threat of defeat is real. I admit this. While many have asked when I will retire, I'll clarify this again: I will not retire until my body can no longer move. If I am beaten, I will accept it, and try my best to work my way back. However, do not misunderstand my words. I have no intention of losing. I will give no less than 300%!"

Hiroshi Nishida: "Next, we will reveal another match for our event. Actually, like Inoue vs. Fujita, it too was confirmed today, as the 2009 Sakura Tag Festival Champions Akira Takayoshi and Naoyuki Watanabe will challenge the F-MAX Tag Team Champions TAKU and Mastodon Fukuda in what will be their unprecedented eighth defense of their titles. As the winners of the Sakura Tag Festival, Takayoshi and Watanabe have earned this right. At this time, I would like to call all four participants down."

Among the rows of FURY wrestlers standing behind Mr. Nishida, Akira Takayoshi, Naoyuki Watanabe, TAKU, and Mastodon Fukuda all step down, and take their seats at the table.

Hiroshi Nishida: "At this time, I would like to ask all four men to give an opening statement."

TAKU: "I am TAKU, one-half of the F-MAX Tag Team Champions! You idiots already know that, so I don't know why I'm wasting my time... Tonight, we were cheated out of the Sakura Tag Festival championship. However, I will not complain. My opinion on Akira Takayoshi is known. He's a worm, and a failure as a leader. His obsession with us (UPRISER'Z) is pathetic, because we kicked him out as the weakest link. We already destroyed he and Watanabe on 12/21. 5/31 will be no different. We will continue ruling the world of tag team wrestling!"

Mastodon Fukuda: "You know who I am, you idiots! Listen, we were beaten today. However, we will decisively end this rivalry on 5/31! On the highest stage possible, we will bury 'TakaNabe' six feet under!"

Akira Takayoshi: "I am Akira Takayoshi... And despite what TAKU says, he realizes that out of the seven teams they've beaten, 'Nao-chan' and I came the closest to beating them. And tonight, we proved they are not invincible. On 5/31, we will end the 'Chojin Powers' reign of terror for good!"

Naoyuki Watanabe: "I am Naoyuki Watanabe... I am happy to have won the Sakura Tag Festival tonight with Akira in front of the Osaka fans, because it will be but a precursor to 5/31, when we become F-MAX Tag Team Champions!"

Hiroshi Nishida: "Now, we will field more questions regarding this match."

Rumiko Ryusaki, Tokyo Sports: "This is a question for all four... How does it feel to have this match in the Kyocera Dome?"

TAKU: "To me, it doesn't matter where I fight. I'll beat their ass right now if need be. I don't even need a ring!"

Mastodon Fukuda: "Just means more people to see their 'heroes' fail."

Akira Takayoshi: "It's an honor to realize this dream with not just Pro-Wrestling FURY, but our industry in general. I can promise the highest level of pro-wrestling possible!"

Naoyuki Watanabe: "It's still a bit surreal to think I'm going to be wrestling on such a grand stage. It wasn't one year ago that I was wrestling in front of 200-300 fans in the United States. So at the moment, it's hard to come up with the words to describe this..."

Fujio Nomura, Yahoo! Sports Japan: "TAKU, Fukuda... If you win on 5/31, what are your plans for the future as F-MAX Tag Team Champions?"

TAKU: "Finally, a good question... After we eliminate Akira and Watanabe, we're going to set our sights on tag champions from other organizations, and take all of their belts! We've made it clear that we are the most dominant tag team in the world! However, we've seen other teams around the world claim this, and we're sick of it! After 5/31, we'll start with Japan, starting with DYNAMITE and whoever ends up PWC Tag Team Champions, then to Superstar Pro and their IC Tag Team titles, before BURNING PARADISE and their DYNAMIC DUO belts, before finally ending up in CRIMSON and their C-1 Tag Team titles. After that, we'll move onto the United States, and begin our global domination!"

Hiroshi Nishida: "We will take one more question, before we begin to wrap up our event tonight."

Nobuo Honda, Fighting Spirit: "Akira... After defeating Otsuo Kayusa and Kyoshima Yosuken on 4/23, both men gave you a symbolic 'baton pass.' Was there anything significant about this?"

Akira Takayoshi: "...Honestly, I am not sure. You would have to ask Otsuo and Kyoshima... However, I feel we have their support going into 5/31. We will not let them down."

Hiroshi Nishida: "We have one final match to reveal tonight... It involves the return of one of our most prominent stars, who has been traveling the world since October of last year... On 5/31, Norihiro Akashi will return to Japan to team with his fellow STRONG RIDERS member Kenichiro Hujikawa... Their opponents will be the "STRONG 2" of STRONG RIDERS, Otsuo Kayusa and Kyoshima Yosuken... And at this time, I would like to play you a special video message from Akashi..."

As the lights dimmed, a projection screen lowered. A video finally played, showing a tanned man who vaguely looked like Norihiro Akashi, now sporting a black beard, and long hair...

Norihiro Akashi: "Hello everyone! This is Norihiro Akashi, from AMERICA! ...Um, I'm not really sure what to say, so bare with me... I have been training hard since October. I have wrestled in across Europe, Mexico, Canada, and now the United States. In my travels, I have acquired two championships, including the GSW Heavyweight title I currently hold. While I intend to continue defending my title, I feel the time is now to return to Japan... To wrestle in the Kyocera Dome is a dream that I take very seriously... To share this dream with my friends and teachers only makes this more meaningful. To everyone who has believed in me... I will not let you down. Thank you, and GOD BLESS!"

Hiroshi Nishida: "I would like to thank everyone for coming out tonight. Please continue following us in the coming weeks, as new matches will develop as we approach our fated date."
