[6/03/2009] FURY News & Notes

- The news continues as Pro-Wrestling FURY recovers from its historic 5/31 event from the Kyocera Dome Osaka.

- While hardcore FURY fans purchased the live Sky PerfecTV! PPV feed, FURY gained thousands of new fans as the 5/31 spectacular aired in a condensed two-and-a-half hour time slot on Fuji TV during Golden Time. The show garnered the highest audience for a pro-wrestling event in over twenty years, earning an incredible 20.7% rating. The show peaked with the night's main event between Kazuma Fujita and Ryo Inoue (which aired in the first hour due to head-to-head competition with the WBC World Flyweight Title boxing match) with an amazing 28.3% share. Executives within Fuji TV were quite pleased with the rating. Whether Fuji TV will opt to air future FURY events however is yet to be seen.

- The television audience missed out on a special bonus match held a half hour before the show's official gong time, between the NEW FORCE trio of Etsuya Kawachi, Hidaka Kamon, and Kazuki Sendo as they faced the trio sent from the Ichimi Pro-Wrestling Gumi, Hiromi Hasegawa, Mineo Ueda, and former FURY star Nobusan. In what was an enjoyable sprint, Hidaka Kamon scored the win for NEW FORCE after using the Shoushinjisatsu on Ueda.

- Many questions have been raised regarding UPRISER'Z after TAKU abandoning Mastodon Fukuda after the two lost their F-MAX Tag Team titles to Akira Takayoshi and Naoyuki Watanabe. This morning, TAKU posted on his FURYnet blog, sharing his thoughts on the night. He skirted around the result of the match, essentially saying "even dogs occasionally get a scrap of meat." However, the startling comment was that TAKU announced that he was dissolving his team with Mastodon Fukuda. He had no further comments good or bad regarding Fukuda, but said that UPRISER'Z would continue as the "strongest faction in Pro-Wrestling."

- The month of May was a busy one for Tetsuhisa NAKAI, who represented Pro-Wrestling FURY in Pro-Wrestling CRIMSON's annual Power Source tournament. NAKAI remained unbeaten in the tournament, winning all of his tournament bouts, aside from going to a time limit draw with Nobuyori Shimizu on 5/03. On the final night, NAKAI defeated Yoshiaki Matsuda and Mikio Tsuruya in extremely difficult matches to get to the finals, where he faced off against the powerful Takayuki Ariwa. Ariwa proved to be the strongest test for NAKAI, who even after the MAX BULLET, and a short-ranged lariat, Ariwa refused to stay down. Even after being locked in NAKAI's deadly Koukai Vice, Ariwa refused to submit, choosing instead to slip into unconsciousness, giving NAKAI the tournament victory!

As the winner of the tournament, NAKAI now has the right to challenge the C-1 Heavyweight Champion on July 27th.
