[1/07/2010] FURY News & Notes

- The new F-MAX Unified Heavyweight Champion Naoki Fukuda, along with FURY Interim President Kazuma Fujita hosted a press conference from FURY's offices in Osaka to outline the company's plans going into the 2010 year.

The new champion was first given the opportunity to talk. He reiterated much of his speech after winning the title, as he thanked the fans for their support, along with his comrades in REAL-ONE. He called 2009 a “turbulent” year, citing that at the beginning of the year, he was apart of the world's strongest tag team with TAKU, and ended the year by becoming FURY's strongest singles wrestler. However, he called 2010 a “blank slate” for not just him, but the company entirely. He stated as champion, he would do his best to strengthen the image of Pro-Wrestling FURY and the F-MAX Unified Heavyweight title. In front of Interim President Fujita, Naoki demanded to make the first defense of his title as soon as possible, along with sending a call to champions from other organizations to prove their mettle in the FURY ring. Fujita praised Naoki for his Burning Spirit, and revealed that Fukuda's first defense would most likely be on 2/26 as FURY runs the Fukuoka International Center for the first time. Naoki let out an exasperated sigh, saying that he didn't want to wait until then. Never the less, Naoki nodded, and said he would respect Fujita's decision.

Fujita took the stage next, addressing the current state of the company. Fujita said that the last few months of the year were a very dark period of the company, noting how the “Nishida scandal” nearly killed the company. While FURY has still lost several sponsors, along with confidence from the fans, Fujita was happy to say that the company was healthy, and would try to regain the fans trust in the year. In fact, Fujita stated that 2010 would be a “rebuilding year' for the company. First, Fujita noted that FURY would be returning to smaller buildings, bringing Pro-Wrestling to more intimate settings, along with holding shows in more rural areas. In addition, Fujita announced that tickets for FURY's touring events would be reduced for the year in order to gain trust with its fans. Fujita however clarified that FURY's “big match” shows would remain at their regular price structure.

Fujita then revealed the schedule for both January and February. The January series kicks off tomorrow at Korakuen Hall for the first of two double headers to celebrate the New Year. Just as last year, both shows will be headlined by Heavyweight and Junior Heavyweight Battle Royals.

January will also see some outside participation from the returning Ryuugo Nagashima, who will work the 1/09 Korakuen show, and will rejoin the series on 1/14 in Toyama.
