[Results] KING OF FURY Grand Prix 2011, 11/07/2011 @ Gran Cube Osaka

- After nearly a year of inactivity, Pro-Wrestling FURY returned with the kickoff of one of its most crucial endeavors, the 2011 KING OF FURY Grand Prix tournament. Shortly before the bell time, it was announced that Go Taniguchi had been appointed as Deputy Director by the wrestlers for the time being. Go humbly accepted the position, but assured fans that he would remain active as a pro-wrestler. Further more, Go vowed to continue training for the 2012 Olympics for checkers. Go was then informed that such an event did not exist... With the comedy out of the way, “Mr. Taniguchi” introduced representatives of DASHBank, FURY's new primary sponsor. Go thanked the group of men for their support, and credited them for FURY's new ring, imported from the United States. Go also pointed out the new canvas and aprons, sporting for the first time, a white canvas with bold black and gold trim alongside the apron. In the center of the canvas is a large “DASHBank” logo, with an equally large “FURY 2012” emblem directly under it. Go finished the pre-show event by thanking DASHBank, in addition to the fans.

- The show officially began with the introduction of the 20 KOF Grand Prix participants. As usual, every individual was given the chance to give a brief statement. The ones that received the most appeal included newcomer Adam “Mr. H20” Waterman, who vowed to breeze through the competition and return to America as the KOF Grand Prix Champion. This raised the ire of this opponent tonight, Norihiro Akashi, who immediately got in Waterman's face, forcing a pull-apart. The infamous Ryo Inoue said professional wrestling needed a boost of rejuvenation, and said that while many speculated that Ryo Inoue had nothing left to prove, Inoue however said that to walk the way of the warrior is to always face off against the best competition. While he snidely said he had little respect for “children,” he claimed that this tournament would determine the strongest in Japan. Inoue's stern speech garnered a huge reaction from the Osaka fans.

- Before the actual tournament matches could get underway, we saw the return of beloved Jr. Heavyweight, Etsuya Kawachi. Kawachi suffered a severe shoulder injury over a year ago in the 2010 J1 MAX League tournament, leading to several surgeries being needed to finally heal the injury. Kawachi received an enormous ovation from the native Osaka crowd. The isle was filled with women to present the returning Kawachi with flowers and other tokens of well-wishing... However, as Kawachi stopped to receive the presents, he was ambushed by the trio of Yoshihiro Shimoda, Kyoto Okazaki and RYUJI! Kawachi immediately went down, holding his surgically repaired shoulder! Kamon and Sasaki immediately went after the three, causing Referee Akinori Fuwa to abruptly start the match! The heel trio easily held control as the bell sounded with kicks and stomps and keep Kamon and Sasaki down. However, as they whipped the two into the ropes, the two babyfaces countered with stereo dropkicks, sending Shimoda and Okazaki tumbling to the outside! The tables were now turned, as Kamon and Sasaki had the advantage against RYUJI! However, RYUJI managed to avoid an oncoming swandive missile kick from Sasaki, causing him to kick Kamon! During the confusion, RYUJI reached for a bottle of sake, before taking a large swig. As Sasaki turned around, RYUJI spat the alcohol in Sasaki's face, before scooping Sasaki up and SPIKING him with the Tombstone Driver! RYUJI then focused on the legal man, Hidaka Kamon by stalking over him, sake bottle in hand... As Kamon slowly got to his feet, RYUJI slowly drew the bottle towards his mouth to take a drink... ONLY TO HAVE IT RIPPED AWAY BY ETSUYA KAWACHI! Without hesitation, Kawachi knocked the bottle back, emptying the contents into his mouth. He lurched back to give RYUJI a taste of his own medicine, only to suddenly stop... AND SPIT THE SAKE INTO KAMON'S EYES! To the absolute SHOCK of the Osaka crowd, Kawachi hoisted his long time friend and partner up, before JARRING HIM WITH THE GO 2 SCHOOL! RYUJI melodramatically covered Kamon, as Fuwa begrudgingly counted the three...

Kawachi stood over Kamon's body with a microphone, jokingly saying he figured Kamon would want an explanation.... He said quite simply, “Being a teacher is boring, and the pay sucks. Sorry Kamon-kun, but SCHOOL'S OUT!” Kawachi left with Shimoda, Okazaki and RYUJI, apparently cementing an alliance...

- The KING OF FURY Grand Prix got underway as the ever-improving Norihiro Akashi faced off against the arrogant import from America, DEFIANCE Wrestling's Adam “Mr. H20” Waterman in the A Block! The Japanese fans, females especially, seemed impressed with Waterman's physique. Immediately, he showed that it wasn't just for looks however, as he sent Akashi across the ring with a forceful shove! The brash Akashi tried to face Waterman head-on, only to be knocked violently to the mat with a powerful shoulderblock! Waterman's arrogance eventually created an opening for Akashi to come back, allowing Akashi to connect with a BRUTAL running kick to the face, knocking the big American off his feet for the first time in the match, garnering a big reaction from the crowd! Waterman attempted to flee to the outside, not anticipating Akashi's bold offense, as the Japanese favorite came FLYING over the ropes with a NO TOUCH plancha onto Waterman! After getting him back into the ring, Akashi further inflicted damage with a running soccer kick to Waterman's back, setting up a two-count pin attempt. Akashi sized Waterman up as he got to his feet, only to foolishly charge straight into a Reverse STO Waterman calls the “Waterfall,” sending Akashi crashing face first into the canvas! Waterman quickly went for the pin, hooking the leg tightly in the process, ONLY FOR AKASHI TO POWER OUT AT 2.5! Waterman quickly subdued Akashi further with a Cobra Twist... The fans immediately rallied behind Akashi, with cries of his name echoing through out the building. However, just as Akashi seemed poised to fight back, Waterman sent Akashi's momentum crashing to a screeching halt by turning the Cobra Twist into his signature “Hydro-Power” Hammerlock DDT! Rather than go for the cover, Waterman dead lifted the stunned Akashi up and over his shoulder, before delivering a DEVASTATING Running Thunder Fire Powerbomb, or as Waterman calls it, “The Waterbomb!” Waterman laid across Akashi's folded body, allowing Referee Edd Sasaki to count the three, giving Waterman a HUGE first impression!

- The action continued in the A Block as Manabe Tsuji took on the Ace of FURY's Jr. Heavyweight division, Jet Jaguar! Despite being at a size disadvantage, Jaguar was the aggressor in the match, dissecting Tsuji with precise kicks to the leg and arms. Tsuji finally exploded with a vicious spear, nearly goring Jaguar in two! Tsuji looked impressive against Jaguar, throwing him around with ease. Jaguar however managed to comeback at the most crucial points, gaining a couple of near falls towards the end... Tsuji however managed to catch Jaguar on the ropes as he set up the Jaguar Special... This allowed Tsuji to deal massive damage with an Avalanche Reverse Brainbuster! The sheer momentum of the move sent Jaguar stumbling to his feet, allowing Tsuji to scoop up and finish him with the Bloody Guts, giving Tsuji his first victory of the tournament!

- The B Block portion of the tournament opened up with a spirited bout between Chikao Kessin and Jun Kobayashi... Both men were particularly intense, and laid into one another with elbows and clubbing blows as soon as the gong sounded. The fans were barely given time to seat themselves as Kessin ducked a telegraphed elbow, setting up the SEKAI ICHI NO BACKDROP! Immediately clutching his neck, Kobayashi wisely rolled to the outside, giving him time to recover from Kessin's most devastating attack. As the referee's count reached 15, Kessin finally climbed onto the apron to retrieve Kobayashi... It appeared to be a ruse however, as Jun jumped to his feet, before pulling Kessin's right leg off the ring apron, knocking the Sumo off balance! With Kessin prone, Kobayashi climbed onto the apron, before taking a running start and CRACKING Kessin across the skull with his knee! Jun rolled Kessin into the ring, before going for the cover. However, Kessin defiantly powered out at ONE! As Kessin rose to his feet, Kobayashi continued to unload with elbows, before grabbing hold of a headlock... Kessin finally grabbed Kobayashi by the waist, before delivering a SECOND BACKDROP! To the shock and awe of the fans however, Kobayashi displayed amazing resilience by hanging onto the headlock! With the fans now solidly behind Kobayashi, Kessin slowly climbed back to his feet, before once again grabbing Kobayashi around the waist... The fans roared as they sensed what was coming. Jun was aware as well, as he firmly did his best to keep the big man off balance... However, Kessin finally lifted Kobayashi HIGH into the air, before SPIKING HIM WITH A THIRD SEKAI ICHI NO BACKDROP! Upon impact, Kobayashi released the headlock, before going limp! As Kessin laid on all fours, Referee Fuwa began to check on Kobayashi, who was no longer answering his calls... Seeming concerned, Fuwa suddenly called for the bell, calling a stop to the match as a result of a Technical Knockout! Kobayashi immediately received attention by officials, along with friend and partner Kenichiro Hujikawa... Fortunately, many fears were quickly put to rest as Kobayashi awoken from his state by SPRINGING to his feet, assuming a fighting pose! Despite appealing to continue fighting, the decision stood, giving Kessin two points in his first tournament match.

- Kessin's former Sumo Brothers partner Masafuji Yoshida was up next, facing the “remodeled” Naoyuki Watanabe, fresh from an excursion across the United States and Canada. The powerful veteran, Yoshida seized control early on with his strength. Watanabe however fiercely battled back with elbows and punches to the body, before finally knocking Yoshida off-base with a jumping elbow smash! Yoshida tried to escape to the outside, only for Watanabe to hurl himself over the ropes with a slingshot plancha, knocking both he and Yoshida crashing to the arena floor! Watanabe's momentum was short-lived however, as Yoshida countered an Irish Whip attempt, sending Watanabe violently flying over the metal security railing, and onto the time keepers table! Yoshida took his time in coming to Watanabe however, allowing him time to recover. As Yoshida crossed over the rail to reach him, Watanabe struck a dropkick to Yoshida's knee, before grabbing hold and delivering a RAIL-ASSISTED DRAGON SCREW! Watanabe attempted to take the ring out win, but Yoshida valiantly managed to make it back in before the count of 20! Despite the injured leg, Yoshida managed to fight back with a flurry of trademark Sumo palm slaps to the chest, sending Watanabe into the corner. Yoshida spent the next few moments wearing Watanabe down with chops and elbows, before ultimately sending him to the mat with a signature Sumo waist-throw! As Watanabe scrambled to his feet, he was immediately met with a VICIOUS Football tackle from Yoshida! With Watanabe seemingly subdued, Yoshida grabbed him by the throat, setting up a Choke slam.. Watanabe however sprung to life, throwing a HARD kick to Yoshida's injured knee, before grabbing hold and WRENCHING IT WITH ANOTHER DRAGON SCREW! Suddenly, Watanabe threw out the Jason Ramsey “Superstar” appeal, before trapping Yoshida with the FIGURE FOUR LEG LOCK! With perfect positioning, Yoshida had no where to go, FORCING HIM TO SUBMIT! The Osaka fans roared with surprise as the “Technical Prodigy” pulled off a big win to begin his tournament campaign!

- TAKU and Kenichiro Hujikawa faced off in the A Block, continuing the trend of short-burst, intense matches with fast pacing. The story of the match was TAKU's Chojin Bomber versus Hujikawa's Axe Bomber K. Both men even pulled off modified versions of each others moves to gain near falls over the other. Hujikawa impressed many with his gutsy performance, which included having his mouth busted up after a series of European Forearms from TAKU. The match became even more violent outside, as both men freely used weapons. Referee Edd Sasaki attempted to admonish the two, but ultimately allowed the events to play out due to the importance of the tournament. A table eventually came into use, as Hujikawa set TAKU up across it after delivering a nasty DDT onto the arena floor! With TAKU prone on the table outside, Hujikawa climbed to the top rope, garnering a huge reaction from the fans... However, as he jumped with a diving body press, TAKU narrowly rolled out of the way, sending Hujikawa CRASHING not only through the table, but onto the hard arena floor! TAKU aimed to finish the match after throwing Hujikawa into the ring, only for Hujikawa to kick out of the pin attempt after two! TAKU wasted little time in sizing Hujikawa up for the Chojin Bomber... However, at the last second, Hujikawa brilliantly countered the finishing move with a Crucifix Hold, NEARLY SCORING A FLASH THREE COUNT! After the kick out, TAKU immediately came off the ropes, BLASTING Hujikawa with an Enzui-Chojin Bomber, which set up the real CHOJIN BOMBER! TAKU covered, gaining the victory and two points to begin his tournament hunt!

- In the B Block, the former Shin Kaiju, Masato Osagawa faced off against one of his former Jr. Heavyweight contemporaries, ATSUKA, who had no problems taking every short cut in the book as soon as the match began. ATSUKA pulled out some big moves very early into the match, including the Punk Rock Dropkick, which even sent the larger Osagawa falling back into the turnbuckle! However, as ATSUKA charged in, Osagawa exploded, BLASTING ATSUKA with a crushing body attack, which set up a running body press for a two count! Osagawa punished ATSUKA with heavy Kaiju Hammers, before driving him head first into the mat with a DDT! After pulling ATSUKA up, Osagawa positioned him in the corner, before connecting with a second body attack! As ATSUKA stumbled out of the corner, Osagawa came racing off the ropes, aiming to finish ATSUKA quick and dirty with the Kaiju Lariat... ATSUKA however managed to duck the attack, before POPPING Osagawa with a Jumping knee to the jaw! The shot seemed to stun Osagawa, allowing ATSUKA to roll him up with a Small Package! Osagawa seemed out of it just long enough for a flash cradle, ONLY TO KICK OUT AT 2.5! Both men jumped to their feet and charged at one another. Osagawa swung first, throwing his violent Kaiju Lariat... ATSUKA telegraphed it, countering with a Crucifix hold... Osagawa however showed his immense strength to suspending ATSUKA, before HOISTING him across his shoulders and SPIKING HIM WITH THE DEATH VALLEY BOMB! Osagawa quickly went for the pin, ONLY FOR ATSUKA TO KICK OUT AT 2.5! Wasting no time, Osagawa pulled ATSUKA's staggered body up, before FOLDING HIM IN HALF WITH THE WHIPLASH POWERBOMB! Osagawa even lifted ATSUKA up after the impact to better tuck ATSUKA'slower body behind his shoulders, allowing Referee Fuwa to render the three count!

- Two behemoths from polar opposites of the world were set to face off next as Tetsuhisa NAKAI faced the “Wild Bronco” Dusty Griffith. The match had a slower pace to it than the prior matches, as NAKAI and Dusty seemingly showed respect for each other by choosing to feel the other out... This of course lasted for all of three minutes after Dusty chose to slap NAKAI across the chest after forcing him into the ropes. Something snapped in NAKAI, as he violently erupted with a flurry of elbows, provoking Dusty to fight back with clobbering shots of his own! The fight soon became so uncontrollable that it spilled to the outside! Like with matches earlier, the two men were given a lot of leeway, and took full advantage of the tools available to them at ringside. NAKAI for instance wrapped microphone cords around Dusty's neck and began choking him. Dusty was eventually able to send NAKAI face first into the steel ring post, opening a small laceration above his right eye in the process! After finally threatening to count both men out, Dusty and NAKAI returned to the ring. Dusty continued to hold nothing back against NAKAI, using NASTY headbutts to continue assaulting NAKAI's bleeding wound! However, the shots soon seemed to be doing more to revive the spirited NAKAI than anything, as NAKAI BEGAN HEADBUTTING BACK! NAKAI unleashed a furious volley of kesagiri chops, before ultimately knocking Dusty off his feet with a spinning kesagiri chop to the throat! NAKAI tried to appeal to the crowd, but suddenly became overcome with fatigue, presumably from the blood-loss, giving Dusty some time to recover.... As Dusty finally reached his feet however, NAKAI came rushing out of the corner, walking right into an incredible Scrap Buster! Dusty covered, only for NAKAI to kick out after two... Dusty controlled the tempo by clamping on a headlock... Eventually, he managed to throw NAKAI back to the back, before locking in a grounded Neck crank submission hold! NAKAI would eventually work his way back to a headlock position... NAKAI attempted to lift Dusty for a Backdrop, only to be forced to drop him back down... After trying once again, Dusty finally lead go of the headlock, before driving the point of his elbow down across NAKAI's head three times! With NAKAI stunned, Dusty raced off into the ropes. Upon rebound however, NAKAI cut Dusty off, BLASTING HIM WITH A GUH PUNCH TO THE JAW! The blow had Dusty stunned, allowing NAKAI to grab Dusty from behind, and deliver a DANGEROUS BACKDROP! NAKAI covered, only to get a two count... NAKAI launched into his most successful offensive tirade of the match so far beginning with a CRUSHING lariat in the corner, which set up the HALF-NELSON SUPLEX! After another failed pin attempt, NAKAI tried to lift Dusty up for the Devil Eruption, only to take a flurry of elbows for his efforts. Dusty tried quickly to rebound with a lunging attack, only for NAKAI to avoid the blow, using the momentum shift to lift Dusty across his shoulders, and PLANT HIM FACE FIRST WITH THE DEVIL ERUPTION! As the 20:00 mark approached, NAKAI went for the cover, ONLY FOR DUSTY TO KICK OUT AT 2.5! Seizing an opportunity to end it, NAKAI held out his right arm, signifying his Strong-arm Lariat... He pulled Dusty up, signaling for the close-quarters lariat once more... However, DUSTY DUCKED THE SWING, before seamlessly transitioning into a REAR NAKED CHOKE! NAKAI wildly tried to fight, potentially doing more harm than good in his effort to escape... Slowly, but surely, NAKAI's strength seemed to give way, as he dropped to one knee... However, just as it seemed NAKAI was able to go out, NAKAI began to fight again with elbows, prompting Dusty to let go of the choke, and BLAST NAKAI WITH ANOTHER HEADBUTT! The shot stunned NAKAI, allowing Dusty to scoop him up and SPIKE NAKAI WITH THE NORTHERN LIGHT BOMB! Dusty covered NAKAI's limp body, allowing Referee Edd Sasaki to count the three, giving Dusty a HUGE victory in his first tournament bout!

- Hiroaki Nakata and Akira Takayoshi faced off in a singles bout for the first time in years, renewing one of FURY's most exciting rivalries from its infant years. Both men were fairly matched, easily countering almost everything the other threw early on. Nakata eventually gained control on the mat, using his superior amateur skills. The two showed a stark contrast to the other matches tonight, displaying a much more mat-oriented match. Things started to pick up after the 5:00 mark, as Akira avoided a running high kick, which set up a snapping Enzuigiri to the back of Nakata's skull! After planting him on the mat with a quick Backdrop, Akira showed some arrogance by going for an effortless pinfall, which Nakata easily kicked out of. Akira continued to stay on top of Nakata with attacks, before ultimately catching him with a jumping elbow attack in the corner. Akira tried to set up what appeared to be a Superplex... Nakata however fought back, before ultimately knocking Akira to the mat with a flurry of elbows... As Akira got to his feet, Nakata used a Missile kick, sending Akira flying across the ring... Nakata continued to use his feet for offense, as he wore down Akira with nasty kicks to the body and chest. Ultimately, the strikes provoked Akira to fight back with elbows, leading to a brutal exchange of blows. Nakata finally seemed to break Akira's resistance with a VICIOUS left high kick! Nakata aimed to complete the “Dokkan Combination” by throwing a right-legged High Kick... Akira however AVOIDED THE SHOT, before CATCHING NAKATA A TIGER SUPLEX HOLD! The fans ERUPTED as they sensed a sudden end, ONLY FOR NAKATA TO KICK OUT AT 2.9! Both men jumped to their feet to meet each other head on... Akira swung wildly, throwing a VIOLENT Lariat... Nakata COUNTERED however with a jabbing kick, sending Akira spinning in reverse, straight into a DRAGON SUPLEX HOLD! However, Akira managed to kick out of the pin attempt at ONE! However, leaving himself vulnerable on all-fours, Akira quickly found himself WRENCHED IN HALF with a VIOLENT knee kick from Nakata! The shot was so brutal, it allowed Nakata to cradle Akira with the Kido Clutch! With no wind in his body, Akira was unable to kick out, GIVING NAKATA THE VICTORY!

- The fans were treated to a huge confrontation in the main event, worthy of any of FURY's annual big match events as the F-MAX Unified Heavyweight Champion Naoki Fukuda met Ryo Inoue in a first time encounter... Inoue seemed to take the threat of FURY's Ace serious, as he made no mistakes during the early going, and used his superior grappling skills to subdue Fukuda. However, Fukuda fought back with short-burst strength, knocking Inoue to the mat with a shoulderblock! Inoue immediately rolled to his feet, and fired back with kicks and palms, forcing the Ace of Pro-Wrestling FURY to cover up in a defensive shell... After connecting with a flurry of knees in the corner, Inoue threw Fukuda overhead with front suplex, followed by a HARD kick between the shoulder blades! As the match progressed, Inoue continued to pick Fukuda apart with kicks and elbows. Fukuda eventually erupted with another flurry of forearms, followed by a spear to take Inoue off his feet! Fukuda followed up on the ring apron... As Inoue finally got to his feet, Fukuda slingshotted himself over, collided head-on with a BRUTAL slingshot shoulderblock! The high-impact attack earned Fukuda a one count as he went for the cover, showing that Inoue had plenty of fight left in him. Later, the momentum of the match shifted dramatically as Inoue thwarted Fukuda's “Mastodon Pump” attempt with a go-behind, before locking in a Sleeper hold! Inoue further took Fukuda off base with a swift kick to the back of the knee, gaining further leverage! The pro-FURY crowd supported Fukuda with calls, motivating him to fight his way back to a standing base... Before he could act further however, Inoue wrapped both of his legs around Fukuda's body to apply the body triangle! Fukuda finally seemed to be fading as Referee Sasaki seemed ready to call for the bell... However, Fukuda suddenly began to kick the mat, and doing whatever else he could to show that he was still conscious. Fukuda displayed incredible power to getting back to a vertical position, despite Inoue's body triangle... Fukuda began to sway his body back and forth, allowing him to finally break Inoue's guard! Immediately, Fukuda threw himself forward in an attempt to send Inoue flying overhead... Inoue however remained persisted, and hung on despite momentum fighting against him! Once more, Inoue latched his legs around Fukuda's body in an effort to bring him down, but the resilient Mastodon stood with both feet spaced enough to equally distribute Inoue's weight... Suddenly, Fukuda made a made dash towards the corner, DRIVING INOUE HEAD FIRST INTO THE TURNBUCKLE! The shot, while brutal, seemed to only jar Inoue slightly, as he continued to hang onto the sleeper hold. However, Fukuda would repeat the attack once more; this time after sprinting DIAGNALLY ACROSS THE RING INTO THE OPPOSITE CORNER! This time, Inoue released upon impact, despite his best efforts to remain standing... While groggy, Fukuda immediately grabbed hold of Inoue, before SPIKING HIM WITH THE MASTODON SLAM! With the fans on their feet, Fukuda began his trademark “Mastodon Appeal,” before climbing to the top rope with the hopes of finishing Inoue with the Mastodon Splash! ...However, Fukuda seemed to be pushing himself far too hard, as he suddenly began to show signs of disorientation; presumably from the length of time he was caught in Inoue's Sleeper hold... Fukuda tried his best to shake the effects and complete the attack, but Inoue managed to recover and cut him off with a HARD kick to the face! Inoue then did something he rarely does, by climbing to the top rope, facing opposite Fukuda! After positioning him correctly, Inoue lifted the large Mastodon up, before DRIVING HIM VERTICALLY WITH AN AVALANCHE BRAINBUSTER! While Fukuda's body landed with a nasty impact, the Ace of Pro-Wrestling FURY defied all odds by LEAPING TO HIS FEET, unbeknownst to Inoue! Before he could realize what had happened, Fukuda was there to meet him a VIOLENT spear, nearly separating Inoue in two! Wasting no time, Fukuda climbed to the top rope. After giving a brief Mastodon Appeal Fukuda jumped, before CRUSHING INOUE WITH THE MASTODON SPLASH! Inoue wasn't quite finished yet however, as he kicked out of the following pin attempt at 2.5, before RISING TO HIS FEET! Without hesitating, Fukuda ascended atop the turnbuckle once more, before flying at Inoue with a MASTODON SPLASH STYLE BODY ATTACK! Rather than going for the cover, Fukuda climbed once more, before hitting Inoue with one final Mastodon Splash! Fukuda hooked Inoue's leg as hard as he could, and even then, Inoue would still show some fight by immediately kicking out AFTER THE THREE COUNT!

Fukuda closed the show on the microphone, stating that 2011 was a year he wished he could forget for many reasons. However, he said that for Pro-Wrestling FURY, they wanted to end the year with a HAPPY END, and look towards 2012 and beyond rather than dwell on the past. As always, he thanked the fans for their loyalty and support, before vowing to win the tournament prize himself.
