[12/27/2008] FURY News & Notes

Today, from the FURY offices in Osaka, President Nishida, along with Hiroaki Nakata introduced the brainchild of Nakata, “BREAK BLOW.” Nakata devised the concept to serve several functions within the Pro-Wrestling scene in Japan.

First, to show fans the “true grace” of the pro-wrestling style, as fans will be treated to a pure competition between two competitors, meaning every match within the BREAK BLOW ring will be a one-on-one bout. Matches will also have special “BREAK BLOW rules” that will force competitors to be more strategic by relying more on their intellect and physical capacity, and less on raw emotion and confused fighting. Matches will be governed by the following guidelines.

- Matches can be won by pinfall, submission, knockout, TKO, or disqualification.
- Fighters will begin the match with five points.
- A fighter loses one point for using a rope break to escape a hold or pinfall. And two points for being knocked down in a vulnerable state.
- When a fighter's points are used up, he cannot use the ropes to break a hold or pinfall. If he is knocked down, the fighter loses via TKO.

The second function will be to serve as a “gateway” to every group within the BATTLE FUSION umbrella, and said that the BREAK BLOW ring would have an open-door policy regarding talent.

Two groups within BATTLE FUSION have already offered wrestlers for the first installment on 1/23/2009 from Shinjuku FACE. Nansei Nihon Pro-Wrestling will send their young prodigy Shuji Kido, who will challenge FURY's Tetsujin. However, Pro-Wrestling CRIMSON has stepped up to the plate by sending three of its stars to the BREAK BLOW ring. Yankizoku member Takayuki Ariwa will step up to face former Nansei star, now ronin Ryuugo Nagashima. Former FURY star Akahito Yamada will also participate in the “SEMI BLOW,” facing fellow Kazuma Fujita Dojo 3rd Term graduate, Yoshihiro Shimoda in what should be a spectacular tactical battle!

However, as Nakata personally revealed, the main event will pit himself against one of the pillars of CRIMSON's Jr. Heavyweight division, NAOKI DAISHI in one of the biggest openweight matches in recent memory! Nakata said that he created the BREAK BLOW concept specifically with Daishi in mind, calling him an “ideal pro-wrestler” to showcase in the main event against himself.

Two other matches will fill out the card. STRONG RIDERS member Kenichiro Hujikawa is slated for the show. However, an opponent has yet to be determined... For the final match, Nakata revealed that somehow, his idea had been leaked on the FURY travel bus, and got back to Kinniku Kamen Nisei, who DEMANDED to be included... However, Nisei was crushed to learn about BREAK BLOW's third and final function, “to showcase wrestlers without masks and paint...” (Nakata himself admitted this was perhaps bigoted on his part...) Nisei however said he would offer somebody to compete in his place, naming 11th term graduate SEIJI SASAKI! Nakata agreed, and has arranged for Sasaki to make his Japanese return against UPRISER'Z member Manabe Tsuji.
